WE SHOOT YOUR WEDDING IN HDV

A Guide to HDV
As you probably know, High Definition video is not just a little better than Standard Definition, it's a LOT better. Since a frame of HD video is so much larger than a frame of SD video, it requires a lot more processing muscle and storage. Producing HD is a lot more expensive than producing standard definition video. That's where a brilliant solution called HDV comes into play. The term HDV is a combination of "HD" and the very popular "DV" format we've all been using for about ten years now. HDV is a very clever way of getting HD on DV tape. It's done by using MPEG2 compression which is the same compression used for DVDs. MPEG2 is a much more complex codec than DV and this adds to the computer requirements.
HD has about 5 times the number of pixels as Standard Definition or SD video. The pictures are stunning, but the very large files require lots of computing power to edit and store. If one second of Standard Definition video required 15 floppy disks, then one second of HD video would require 75 floppy disks!
HD requires 5 times as much storage as SD. And the editing of HDV footage requires more computer processing power.
Until the world catches up and makes Hi Def the prevailing format, HDV may be the right format for all video projects. For some it can be a smart move to have the program or footage recorded in HD for future release in an HD format. The HDV can also be downconverted to Standard Definition so that the hundreds of thousands of SD TV sets and DVD players can view it today. Downconverting the HDV footage can give you ( the best of all possible worlds) Wouldn’t it be nice to go back to your clients and ask them if they would like a HD version of their Wedding project, or re-master there footage in a high definition format?" This way 10 years from today the world class recording we made for them ( now ) will be able to be upgreaded to the world class video of the future 10 years hence, thats why we do it right the 1st time here at BrideGroomVideo.com.

The Future
As we see widespread adoption of HD broadcasting and HDTVs, many expect that the HDV standard will become the norm for a lot of video production. For instance independent film producers will undoubtedly see business advantages for adopting HDV long before most wedding videographers. And TV producers will have a different timetable than corporate video producers. BRIDEGROOMVIDEO.COM and our sister company LOLLYPOPMEDIA.COM ( are ) Independent Film Producers! Now you know why We are Indeed ahead of the game here at Bride Groom Video.

16 x 9 and 4 x 3

With the advent of HDTV, (which uses 16x9), this will eventually become the standard format. We shoot in wide-screen video. High Definition Television, or HDTV, has a 16x9 format and delivers brilliant, high-resolution images with over 5 times the sharpness compared to standard definition television. HD channel's are always broadcast in 16x9 Aspect Ratio: TVs are made in the 16x9 screen aspect ratio in order to accommodate (widescreen DVD) and (Digital television Broadcasts)
When we refer to aspect ratio we are talking about the (rectangular shape) of the (video image.) Your standard TV has an aspect ratio of only 4:3. The new HDTV standard is 16:9, which is 16 units of width for every 9 units of height. The wider screen size compared to our traditional 4x3 aspect ratio TV's is ideal for watching movies, especially on ( bigger TVs,) as more of the action is visible and most movies are intended to be viewed at the wider ratio. Thus, HDTV allows viewers to imitate the theatrical viewing experience in the comfort of their homes. It must be noted that in some cases, when viewing theatrical films in HDTV - you may still see black bars to the top and bottom of a 16x9 image, as some films were and are made in wider ratios than 16x9. For example: Original HDTV programming is made in the 16x9 which fits the dimensions of HDTVs. However, many theatrically films are made in either the 1.85 or 2.35 aspect ratio, which is even wider than the 16x9 (1.78) aspect ratios of HDTVs. Thus, when viewing these films on an HDTV (if presented in their original theatrical aspect ratio) - you will see black bars on your 16x9 screen. However, the bars will be( less pronounced ) than if the same movie was letterboxed on a (standard 4x3) square box set. However, the screen surface on a (16x9 Television) is able to accommodate (more) variations in image aspect ratio (realistically) than the traditional 4x3 analog square televisions.
And for the Above reason is why we record Your Wedding in 16 X 9 Format = (Like the rectangular shaped tv's) It's the Future, it's the way (All) TV's Will Be in Just 3 Years, it's doing You a Favor that we Record in This Format So as when you View your dvd Video in the Future you will not have an obsolite dvd video - with us you can play it now of course but it will Look even Better Three Years hence in the Future. Now remember = we certainly can record your wedding in square box 4x3 standard format But I am trying to get you NOT to Live in the PAST, the 16x9 format IS the way everyone (even you!) will watch TV in the ultra short future, ok? So let me know if you want it in 4x3, OTHERWISE we are recording it in 16X9 RECTANGULAR format, which IS the way HIGH DEFINITION TV is Broadcasted in Fact.
